Li River
The Lijiang River of Guilin is famous for its clear water embraced by green hills. The river rises in the Cat Mountain of Xing'an County northeast of Guilin.It passes through Guilin and Yangshuo and joins the Pearl River at Wuzhou.The river winds its way of 83 kiolometers from Guilin to Yangshuo,and the numerous pinnacles stand towering around it. They look like a long scroll of landscape painting. The great poet Han Yu(768-824)of Tang dynasty described the lanscape as "where the river flows like a ribbon of blue silk,and the hills lie like hairpins of green jade", a vivid description of the superb sights along the Liang River.
Guilin

Longsheng
Longji Terraced Field: Although China has 3.7 million square miles of land, only 11 percent of China’s land is arable. To compensate, the Chinese mountain villagers use extensive terracing to plant rice. Located in Longsheng County about 2 hours from Guilin,90 kms northwest to Guilin, Longji means "Dragon's Backbone", the rice terraces are built into the hillsides. Winding from the foot to the top of the hill, the terraces look like great chains or ribbons. The Terraces were first built in the Yuan dynasty and completed in the Qing dynasty by the Zhuang people. Right now on the top of the mountain,there are many motels for tourist choose to stay overnight to enjoy the sunrise and sunset and get the peaceful feeling of the country life.
